BACP-BLUE August 4, 2025, Meeting Minutes Review the success of the BACP-BLUE booth at the Crow Wing County Fair on July 29th through August 2nd. Active booth with good response! Especially from young people. There was some negativity about the sign urging Trump to pursue peace, as he promised in his campaign. Approximately $310 was received in donations. A possible issue for next year is the requirement by the fair board of liability insurance for all vendors. It was decided we should check into it and pursue if not too expensive. We may be 'priced out' of the fair. Discuss the BACP-BLUE Gaza peace vigil scheduled for Saturday August 9th at the Hwy 210-371 intersection. All are welcome. September vigil will be on the 6th. Discuss the BACP-BLUE protest scheduled at the Camp Ripley "Community Day" on September 14th, 2025, from 10:00-2:00. Looking forward to good attendance as our fellow peace activists in the twin cities are verbalizing support and planning to come. The parade float will be there. Discuss BACP-BLUE's participation in the national "Sun Day" event on September 21st, 2025 Go to: https://thirdact.org/donate/sun-day/? to support the event. Gayle will research solar dealerships in the area and see if they are planning anything. Will also contact Barb Cromwell with Citizens Climate Action and discuss with Pat Scott and Trish. Discuss the possible showing of the Greenpeace film "GASLIT" when it becomes available this fall (see email attachment). The attachment is on Doug Olson's email dated August 3rd. The group is supportive of this activity and will address at September meeting. Discuss/identify other potential upcoming opportunities for BACP-BLUE action. The BDS activists in the cities do educational presentations which we would like to host in Brainerd, and combine it with general education/presentation on Palestine. The date of October 4th was suggested as that is the date of our usual Palestine support vigil. Treasury report $564.90 before fair donations. Additional actions Gayle and Larry are making a donation to the People's Conference for Palestine and request listing BACP/BLUE as a sponsor. Agreed unanimously. Gay Pride event September 13th. Group will also encourage DSA delegates to their national convention to support the Springs of Revolution platform in support of Palestine. Indivisible is active and has information on their website.
